Blogathon Against Torture begins July 29

June was Torture Awareness month, but unfortunately, torture doesn't take 11 months off each year. With the ongoing war on terror, some people hold the mistaken belief that torture can be given a makeover and with an accompanying PR campaign can be used as an effective method to preserve our freedom.

We can't let fear or hatred suck us into buying that lie.

Torture and it's twin, loss of respect for the human rights of our enemies -- real and perceived -- corrodes freedom from within.

To continue raising awareness and to raise money for Amnesty International, I'll be participating in the blogathon which lasts 24 hours beginning at July 29 6 am PT.

Hi Marcella,
Good Luck in the blogathon, fighting for human rights, bringing awareness to this issue. Just shows how diverse you are as an advocate.
I have to stop by and post
comments. Take care

A blogathon! What a great idea and one that I never heard of before. It is amazing what we can do to help and even greater that a lot of us work hard towards awareness.

There truly are great people in this world and I have met many right here within the blogs focusing on abuse.
